Dr Simon Planzer is partner at PLANZER LAW AG, a Switzerland-based highly specialised law firm. PLANZER LAW’s team provides strategic, regulatory and legal advice to companies, regulators and other stakeholders across all areas of the gaming, entertainment and technology industries. PLANZER LAW has particular expertise in European (EU/EEA) and Swiss legal and regulatory matters as well as in the implementation of compliance requirements (e.g., AML, fraud, responsible gaming). PLANZER LAW further advises on related corporate matters such as privacy, establishment, banking and tax. PLANZER LAW has represented the interests of many global leaders as well as innovative start-ups.

Dr Simon Planzer also serves as Lecturer in Law at the University of St.Gallen HSG, one of Europe’s leading business universities. He further serves as the Director of the Competence Center on Gaming & Entertainment at the university. He is a general member of IMGL and serves as the Editor in Chief of the IMGL Magazine.

Simon has published and presented extensively on gaming-related matters. He has been repeatedly invited by the international gaming regulators fora IAGR and GREF. His publications include e.g. the chapter on ‘Gambling Law’ for the official ‘Handbook of EEA Law’ (2016) and the monograph 'Empirical Views on European Gambling Law and Addiction’ (2014), both published with Springer and endorsed by some of the world’s leading gaming lawyers.

Simon completed a bilingual law degree at the University of Fribourg and did bilingual postgraduate studies at the College of Europe, the preeminent school for EU studies. He further studied and did research i.a. at Harvard Law School, Harvard Medical School (Division on Addiction), the European University Institute, the University of St.Gallen and the Academy of International Trade Law in Macau.
