Mary B. Magnuson is a shareholder in the St. Paul law firm of the Jacobson Law Group, a law firm with a strong focus in Indian law, gaming law and government affairs. The firms gaming clients have included state, local and Tribal Governments, Tribal Gaming Commissions, gaming operators, gaming financiers, multinational gaming equipment manufacturers, private companies, trade associations, and non-profit organizations. Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Magnuson was the managing attorney for the Gambling Division of the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office. In that capacity, she represented all of the Minnesota state agencies responsible for the regulation of gambling, including the State Lottery, Racing Commission, the Charitable Gambling Board, and the Tribal-State Compact Negotiating Committees. During the past 25 years, Ms. Magnuson has been involved in the development of legislation and policy on numerous and significant gaming issues across the country. She was a member of the Governor’s Advisory Committee on Gambling; Chair of the Indian Gaming Committee of the North American Gaming Regulators Association (NAGRA); Member of the Minnesota Racing Commission; Advisor to the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS) committee to draft model charity gaming legislation; and member of the NAGRA Pull-tab and Bingo Standards Committees. She is a member of the International Masters of Gaming Law and a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for the Northstar Problem Gambling Alliance (the Minnesota affiliate to the National Council on Problem Gambling). She is also the author of several reports and articles on gaming and has been a frequent speaker on gaming issues around the country.
