Donna B. More is an experienced business legal counsel with a strong background in regulatory compliance, securities transactions and disclosure, corporate governance, intellectual property, bankruptcy and criminal prosecution. She is a recognized authority on gaming law and has provided clients in both the private and public sectors with counsel on a wide variety of related business and regulatory issues. A 1983 graduate of Georgetown University Law School More began her career as a prosecutor in the Cook County (Illinois) State’s Attorney’s Office. Later she prosecuted white-collar crime as an Assistant US Attorney in the Northern District of Illinois. In 1990 she was named the first Chief Legal Counsel to the newly formed Illinois Gaming Board (IGB), where she was responsible for leading a team that authored gaming regulations that are still the basis for oversight of the State’s $2.0 billion riverboat gaming industry. Following her service with IGB (1990-94), she entered private practice in Chicago and built a sizable business providing counsel to gaming industry participants confronted with a full array of compliance and licensing issues. Her clients included both domestic and international casinos, gaming equipment manufacturers, vendors and suppliers. She advised companies on all matters that impacted business status in gaming jurisdictions across the US, including Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey and Nevada. In 2000, More resigned her partnership in a major Chicago law firm and founded More Law Group so that she could deliver greater levels of service to her private sector clients. Her expertise in gaming coupled with her sensitivity to client expenses won the firm clients that included virtually all of the top gaming companies in the US. She also served on the Boards of Directors of two publicly traded corporations including Mandalay Resort Group. More joined Columbia Sussex Corporation as Vice President and General Counsel in 2006. As chief legal counsel for this privately held, multi-billion dollar hospitality and casino company, More was a member of executive management responsible for all of the company’s legal and regulatory affairs including those associated with mergers, acquisitions, employment, risk management, labor and community affairs, and gaming compliance. She was also responsible for the legal aspects of the Columbia Sussex’s corporate governance and financial disclosure programs as they related to its public debt positions. More gained invaluable experience in crisis management when she helped shepherd the company’s largest gaming unit into Chapter 11 in 2008. More is a former President of the International Association of Gaming Attorneys where she remains active as a member of the organization’s Board of Trustees.
