Athens Postponement
March 4, 2020
Dear Fellow IMGL Member & Athens Attendee,
As you are aware, the COVID-19 outbreak is causing significant travel concerns across the globe. From travel restrictions to physical quarantines, each nation has taken actions that cause disruption and concerns. Over the course of these events, the Executive Committee has been monitoring the governmental actions and the outbreak itself.
As a result of the increasing spread of COVID-19 and the real restrictions on travel being imposed by major nations and many companies and firms, we have determined that the it is in the best interests of the IMGL to postpone the Athens Conference. We are working with the local committee, hotel management and venues, to try to reschedule for sometime in 2021. We, as a group, continue to believe that Athens is a venue that IMGL should visit for a future conference.
For those who have already registered, you will have a full conference registration credit that can be used at anytime in the next two years for any IMGL conference. This will be a full conference credit and no additional funds will be required if the registration fee increases for a future conference. I would encourage you to consider attending our Fall Conference in Boston, September 23-25, 2020, which will be a joint conference with the International Association of Gaming Regulators. We are currently seeking panel topics and speakers for that conference, so please let our Executive Director, Brien Van Dyke (brien@imgl.org), know if you have a suggestion or would like to speak.
It has been a difficult decision, but in the end it is the proper decision for the IMGL. As President, I am committed to growing the IMGL and to the quality of all our educational events, whether they be Conferences or IMGL Masterclasses. I want to thank each of you for your support and your understanding in this difficult time. I also want to wish you good health and look forward to seeing you in Boston, if not before.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me at any time with any thoughts, concerns or suggestions.
Sincerely,
Marc Ellinger
President
